Utd had a major injury crisis. The first leg at Old Trafford, neither Ferdinand or Vidić played. Utd still won that game despite 2 brilliant moments from Kaká - but Ferdinand wouldn't have been out-foxed as easily as the slightly makeshift back-4. In the 2nd leg in Milan, Utd were fatigued after a difficult game at Goodison Park... the injury crisis not only meant they couldn't field a full-strength team, but also that they couldn't rest and rotate the squad.
